SeaTech: Learn how technology is used to study the oceans by building underwater robots and hydrophones, creating a website, researching whale sounds, and diving into the deep on a Catalina Island snorkeling fieldtrip during the Summer Academy at the Ocean Institute that all SeaTech members get to attend. Members also have a chance to obtain paid internships with the Whale Acoustic Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. This teen program starts November 7, and is open to 8th and 9th graders, Weds; 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Ultimate Oceans: Ultimate Oceans is a program of the Education, Fine Arts, and Technology Departments. Members learn to conduct scientific research to identify marine organisms in specific habitats and ecosystems through exposure to the ocean environment and hands-on experience. This spring, members will cooperate to create a realistic representation of marine life through photography and painting resulting in a beautiful ocean wild-life collage.
